Consultation with Newcomer Advisory Group |

In order to expand community engagement and outreach to stakeholders, CASSA met with Peterborough's Newcomer Advisory Group (NAG) in the New Canadians Centre on September 14, 2010 to speak with newcomers about their experiences in accessing public transit in Peterborough, and to distribute our transit guides. Members of NAG shared stories about experiencing discrimination when accessing Peterborough Public Transit, and made suggestions around developing more inclusive and welcoming service delivery. The Guide to Public Transit for Newcomers and Immigrants was well received by members, and NAG is supportive of the project both in terms of raising awareness around barriers to accessing public transportation and for the development of a training package for Peterborough Public Transit. |
