CASSA organized the roundtable on South Asians and Mental Health on July 9th which was attended by the community health workers, researchers and professionals in the mental health field. Discussions took place to identify the challenges, barriers and opportunities related to promotions and delivery of programs and services from service providers as well as clients’ perspective. The participants also suggested possible solutions and the role CASSA could play in overcoming these barriers. The detailed report on the outcome of this roundtable will be shortly available on our website under “Health Equity” project.

The second session of ‘Working with South Asians – Breaking Barriers’ Training Program organized by CASSA commenced on July 14th with focus around building an Anti-Oppressive framework in frontline work. The frontline workers had the opportunity to share case examples and possible solutions as well as ways to strive for change on a broader level. The monthly sessions will lead to a November forum that will present the solutions to a number of challenges as faced by frontline workers.
