Putting Equity on the Agenda: A York Region Forum

Dear Friends,

On May 9, 2009, CASSA (The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians) in partnership with Social Planning Council of York Region and Social Services Network of York Region will be holding a public forum to discuss ethno-racial equity within York Region.

The forum, Putting Equity on the Agenda-ARE WE BEING HEARD? is an opportunity for people of all ethno-racial backgrounds and representatives from government and non-profit sector to envision a more equitable, accessible and inclusive York Region and to formulate recommendations for local institutions. The forum will take place at Bur Oak Secondary School, 933 Bur Oak Avenue Markham, Ontario from 10am-4 pm.

Special sessions will explore topics such as access to public space, empowerment and education, community service as social change, improved youth engagement, seniors as agents of social change and gender equity within York Region.

If your organization wishes to endorse or support the event, please contact us. So far, over 10 organizations have come on board to be engaged in this process.
