Trailblazers United: A South Asian Youth Leadership Series
CASSA is hosting a series of workshops focused on youth engagement and leadership for South Asian youth from the ages of 15-24!

This unique leadership series seeks to train and help engage 10-12 South Asian youth to create and run projects within their own communities. Training will be on topics related to anti-racism, cultural identity, South Asian history, self esteem, health awareness, civic engagement, anti-oppression, leadership, media skills, fundraising, volunteer management and team building.

Once participants have received their training they will be given the opportunity to create and deliver either a project or event within Scarborough. This project/event will use the core skills learned from the training to bring awareness to the root causes and impacts of violence.

Violence and the root causes of violence addressed through this project can include:
gang violence
bullying
hate crimes
islamophobia
intergenerational issues
struggles with employment
dating violence
depression
anxiety
accent-related withdrawal
isolation
drug abuse
racism
stereotyping
lack of representation

Youth who attend all the workshops will be awarded a certificate of accomplishment by CASSA. This is a great opportunity for youth to acquire knowledge and various leadership skills to address social justice issues in their community, while meeting other interesting, like-minded South Asian youth!
